The 48 MP main camera debuts Apple’s first variable aperture lens. In simple terms, the aperture is the “pupil” of the lens: wide open, more light comes in (great at night); more closed, the scene gets more depth of focus (great for landscapes and group photos).

Part of the Face ID hardware moved under the display, so the Dynamic Island got smaller while still showing up to three Live Activities at once. The screens keep 120 Hz ProMotion and reach up to 3,000 nits outdoors, with a new anti-reflective Ceramic Shield 2.

📶 C2 Modem, Wi-Fi 7 and Satellite
Most models use Apple’s own C2 modem, which spends less energy staying connected — one of the reasons for the better battery life. There’s also Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Emergency SOS via satellite.
